Birthplace of sir Frederick banting

Alliston, ontario

The Birthplace of Banting

The original Farmhouse where Frederick was born was torn down and a new smaller farmhouse was built on the same foundation in 1925.  This Farmhouse has been restored and is the home of exhibits about the discovery of Insulin and about Frederick Banting.

The Banting Homestead and Heritage Park is part of the original 107 acre farm and has a restored Octagonal Drive shed, the Barn, and pig barn on the grounds.

There is a walking trail on the property with exhibits. Exercise equipment, a picnic area and musical instruments are also in the Heritage Park.

There are a number of gardens to explore, including a Monument to the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Insulin, a Cairn and a Legacy Paver Garden.

Visit us in person or virtually through our online, interactive 3D Virtual Tour!
