There are several options for those wishing to visit our site:
Teachers can schedule a School Tour for their classes (Grade 4 and up) weekdays between 10:00 AM am and 4:00 pm, January – June and September – December. This is a free 3-hour experience involving tutorials, videos, outdoor activities. Groups that bring packed lunches can use our picnic area or historic Octagonal Drive Shed. Content is adjusted to be age-appropriate and complements the expected outcomes of the Ontario school curriculum for health, history, heritage and science. Transportation subsidies are available.
Organizations and families can schedule a Group Tour of 6 or more any day, year round. Hold your regular meeting at our venue, schedule a family event or celebration, have an executive ‘retreat’. Let us help you arrange on-site catering. Include our informative presentation and guided tour on your meeting agenda.
Diabetes Classes for Adults
If you are living with diabetes or seeking more information on how to prevent developing diabetes, these small group classes are for you. Classes are held weekly, April – June and September – December. Pre-registration is required.
Day Camp Field Trips
Add a new dimension to your Summer Day Camp program
with a free field trip to the historic Banting farmstead. Indoor and outdoor activities and games are determined in collaboration with Day Camp Program providers. Available weekdays June to end of August. Transportation subsidies are available.
Public Open Hours
Visits are available to all on a scheduled appointment basis only seven days/weekfrom 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
Banting Legacy walking trail, exercise equipment, exterior information exhibits and picnic area are available to all daily from dawn to dusk
SFBLF hosts a number of annual events throughout the year at our Diabetes Management and Education Centre (DMEC) and other locations; e.g., Annual Family Day (September), Banting Legacy Week (November), Annual Transition Symposium (November).
