Comments and Stories:

Nancy Happy Birthday Canada!
Doug Know a number of people with diabetes .. keep up the good work
Adam An American with Canadian roots on my mother’s side, who loves Canada. Happy 150 Canada. I am proud to know a descendant of Sir Frederick. I have watched the NFB film about Sir Fredericks life many times
RB Fleming I am third generation — grandfather, mother and myself — to become diabetic in middle age.
Catharine What a wonderful individual Dr. Banting was to have made the discovery of insulin which has literally saved millions of lives throughout the world and who so unselfishly sold his patent I believe, for the mere sum of $1.00. We will forever be indebted and thankful and proud of this great man.
Ric Proud to be Canadian. Happy 150th.
Geoff Happy Birthday Canada!!!!!!
Bob My brother claimed he was pre diabetes. I went to my doctor at check up and informed him. He sent me for blood test and yes I was diabetic. I have been on medication since. Two years ago I added insulin to my nightly regime. All is under control now. I realize without the discovery of insulin, my life would be vastly different and negatively impacted.
Nelson & Loretta Neither of us are living with diabetes
Terry Although I have not been diagnosed with diabetes several members of my family have (Grandmother, father, brothers). Canada should be very proud of Sir Frederick Banting’s contribution of insulin which has saved millions of lives globally.
Georgina My husband’s sister and my sister’s grandkids had diabetes. With having insulin they lived longer. My sister was 5 when she got it but was able to live to 59.
Jenny Thank you, Dr. Banting!
Lynne My grandson Liam got type 1 diabetics when he was 5 years old. I am extremely thankful that insulin was invented to keep my grandson alive.
And hoping for new invention to help all the children cope with this easier.
